ii is very proud that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has included its model for stormwater in its list of resources.
BCE for Flood Risk
The EPA has included the Business Case Evaluator (BCE) for Stormwater in its resources list to manage flood risk (Link or navigate the EPA website to Water > Water Infrastructure > Green Infrastructure > Build Green Infrastructure to Manage Flood Risk).
BCE for Heat Island Benefit
The EPA also references the BCE in relation to the heat island benefit of green infrastructure (Link or navigate the EPA website to Water > Water Infrastructure > Green Infrastructure > Reduce Urban Heat Island Effect)
“Extreme heat events often affect our most vulnerable populations first. There are a number of tools available to help communities map the benefit of reducing heat-related stress on their community. For example, the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) recently developed a risk-based spreadsheet economic companion tool to its EnvisionTM Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System, called the Business Case Evaluator (BCE) for Stormwater. The tool includes estimates for the value of a comprehensive list of benefits, including reduced heat-related morality rates.” Emphasis added.
BCE & AutoCASE
The Business Case Evaluator (BCE) for Stormwater is a free version of AutoCASE, a tool that includes estimates for the value of a comprehensive list of green infrastructure benefits, including reduced flooding from green infrastructure improvements.
- Business Case Evaluator -Free Excel Spreadsheet. Model, Documentation, and Example available from ISI or Impact infrastructure.
- AutoCASE – Web-based database and model. Integrated with Autodesk’s AutoCAD Civil 3D civil engineering design and documentation solution that supports Building Information Modeling workflow. AutoCASE has multi-user scalable architecture with many advanced modelling features and analysis capabilities.
